With the hope of teaching by example, I look for the lessons that life teaches each of us and any possible way to apply these lessons to make sure that today is a better day than yesterday was.
My message came to me in a doodled writing in my journal over 20 years ago. As I reflect on everything I've learned over the course of my life, I realize that the pieces all seem to come together to point to a bigger destiny.
Like most people, I feel like I've lived several lives over the course of my lifetime. I've always been a curious person and eager to learn as much as I can. Now, only thanks to hindsight, I understand why. Now my job is to learn everything I can from the life I've already experienced and pass it on.....while always learning more.
As it turns out, all this time I thought I was just gathering skills as a jack-of-oh-so-many-trades and just a curious person by nature. Turns out, I was actually gathering life skills so I can teach them to make a better world. Each step in our life prepares us for the next. My next step is to share what I've learned so I can fulfill what I believe is my destiny.
I'm fascinated by cause-and-effect: what affects what and what has nothing to do with anything else, so why stress?
Now, I study people and their relation to each other and to life. I take what I learn and use it to make each day a better day than the one before.
The destiny I speak of is the legacy I want to leave behind. I want, as many parents do, to leave my children with everything they deserve. My children deserve the world. As do your children and as do you. (Yes, YOU!)
You're probably thinking I don't know who you are or anything about you. But you are just as much a part of all of this as my children are. You are a piece that makes the world I live in. Everything about you affects everything around you, including me and my world. My goal is to teach what I know about living a happy, successful life in an ever-changing world and make sure that we, as a world, one world, continue to move forward.
With everything, there is progress and evolution. There are always going to be setbacks of some kind. I want to teach what I know about how to deal with those setbacks (I've got some experience from a few that I've had to deal with ;-) ) so we continue to grow. And what I don't know, I will continue to learn......and continue to pass that along just the same.
I want to learn everything you know and share with you everything I know. We all share the same world. We all share the same goal: We want to live in a world that we love and we want to know that our life matters.
For every one step back, make sure at least two steps forward. That's how we grow, that's how life works.
